Advisory Team
Last updated: 21.08.2026
The Permaculture Network may be supported by an Advisory Team.
This role is intended for people who offer:
- advice
- experience
- feedback
- perspective
- connections
- guidance
The Advisory Team is not the governing board of the Permaculture Network.
Purpose of the Advisory Team
The Advisory Team exists to support projects and the wider network with insight, reflection, and trusted guidance.
Advisors may be experienced or trusted people who are not currently carrying operational responsibility for day-to-day work.
They may support:
- individual projects
- Stewardship Areas
- the Network Circle
- the wider network community
Advice and authority are different
Advisory roles do not automatically carry decision-making authority.
Advisory is based on trust and expertise. Authority is based on responsibility and active contribution.
Anyone in an advisory role may offer perspective and recommendation, but authority over work remains with the people, projects, or groups carrying responsibility for that work.
Code of Conduct responsibility
The Advisory Team has a specific, limited responsibility for stewarding the Code of Conduct process.
The Advisory Team does not hold general governance authority. Its stewardship of the Code of Conduct is a specific and limited responsibility defined by the governance framework.
This does not broaden the Advisory Team's authority beyond conduct matters.
It is an application of the principle Authority follows responsibility: the Advisory Team has authority within the Code of Conduct process because it carries responsibility for that process.
Historical note
Some historical documentation uses the term Core Council.
That historical material should remain available for transparency.
Where current documentation describes an advisory function rather than a governing one, Advisory Team is now the preferred term.
