Onboarding helps people move from simple access toward active participation in the Permaculture Network.

It is the entry point for contributors who want to take part in shared work, discussions, and documentation processes beyond basic website use.

Onboarding calls are offered upon request. They can be booked via our forum.

What onboarding does​

Onboarding helps people:

  • understand the purpose and values of the Permaculture Network
  • become familiar with the shared tools and spaces
  • understand the expectations for participation
  • prepare to contribute responsibly to projects and network activities

Onboarding supports participation and contribution, but onboarding alone does not grant general decision-making authority across the whole network.

Authority develops through actual responsibility within a project, an area of work, or another clearly held role.

After onboarding, people may:

  • join existing projects
  • contribute to documentation and discussions
  • take on responsibilities in areas where they are active
  • participate in shared processes connected to their contribution

Decision-making authority follows the responsibility a person or group actually carries, not onboarding status by itself.

Responsibility becomes explicit when a person agrees to own an ongoing task, role, or area of work and the relevant project recognises that responsibility.

If you do not attend, the next opportunity to join the onboarding process becomes available after a four month grace period.
